Doctorate Program:
Students are required to complete the curriculum and course duration between 3-6 years,fulfill the designated number of credits, conduct research, complete the doctoral thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts.Successful candidiates will receive a graduation certificate along with the doctoral degree, in accordance to the regulation of the Degree Awarding Committee.

Application prerequisites:
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport
(2) under the age of 45, have attained a master's degree
(3) With an excellent command over English Language
(4) Have a capability of adjusting to life
(5) Have the degree of preparatory or equivalent degree with good results
(6) Obey the Chinese laws and university regulation during study period
(7) Have a good financing support

Application Period:
March 15th ,2007 to July 15th ,2007 (stopped after the class is full)

Application Materials:
1.《XI’AN JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY APPLICATION FORM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS》
2. Graduation certificate and degree diploma (Student expecting to graduate should provide an official letter starting expected graduation date), must be original documents or notarized copies either in Chinese or English.
3. Official transcripts of your academic achievement up to the present, including courses taken and standard achieved , must be original documents or notarized copies either in Chinese or English.
4. Two recommendation letters from your referees. The referees should be professors or persons with relevant academic title. At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work. The format of the recommendation letter must be original documents either in Chinese or English.
5. A copy of your HSK report.
6. One photocopy of your valid passport (passport type must be ordinary).
7. Application fee 400 RMB.(Non Refundable) account number

Application Procedure:
1. Applicants should send written application to Xi'an Jiaotong University
2. XJTU mail application forms and other documents to applicants
3. Applicants must send all documents (including application forms and all supporting documents) to XJTU before deadline
4. XJTU verifies the documents and informed the eligible students
5. Qualified applicants should reply with a confirmation letter in time and send the registration fee to XJTU
6. After receiving the confirmation letter and registration fee, XJTU will precede the formalities concerning the official admission of State Education Department and JW202 form for visa
7. XJTU will send the JW202 form, Admission Notice, and other necessary documents to the successful applicants
8. The applicants should take the JW 202 form and admission notice to apply for the visa at Chinese Embassy or consulate in their country
9. Applicants should book the flight tickets according to the required time in Admission Notice and inform XJTU in advance about their arrivals. University will prepare to receive the new students, and arrange the accommodation

Admission:
Once the application materials are examined proved qualified, admission letters will be sent out around the late July.
