On 1stand 2ndFebruary the school organized a trip to Hancheng. We left Xi’an at around 11:00 am and arrived in Hancheng at around 3:00pm . There were so many highlights of the trip including the Han city light festival which was the definitely one on the most beautiful performances we/ I have ever seen.
WHERE WE WENT:
OUR FIRST STOP was Dang village. As soon as we arrived at Dang village, we were welcomed by enthusiastic traditional Chinese drum dancers. The male dancers were dressed in beautiful white and red costumes while the female dancers were dressed in green. It was definitely a welcome party and we felt very special. After the dance commenced we proceeded to take multiple pictures with the drummers and practice our not so good drumming skills.
We then explored the Dang village, which is a place rich in culture, you can tell from the architecture. It felt all over sudden like you have been transported back in time to old China. The view from the top was breathtaking. They offered us green tea, which was welcomed since it was very cold. We used dough to sculpture many beautiful objects. All in all it was a fun time at the Dang village.
After living dang village, we had an early dinner. Some of us had never tried paomo (泡馍) before but hope everyone enjoyed it .
OUR SECOND STOP was to go watch the Light festival opening ceremony sponsored by the Han city municipal council in collaboration with Asian countries along the silkroad. It was nighttime so the lights looked incredibly beautiful from the outside but we generally didn’t know what to expect as we waited. The show was amazing. One had to be there to experience it. Because it was so cold. They offered each one of us extra jackets and scarfs . That was very thoughtful of them.
After the opening ceremony some of our school mates performed a traditional drum dance for the locals. Lengwe and others sang a beautiful song. The crowd was excited to see foreigners perform their local dance from their hometown. After all the festivities of the first day were over. We were all more than excited to head to our beautiful and comfortable hotel rooms and have a good night sleep.
DAY TWO : VISIT SIMA QIAN TEMPLE :It is the most popular sight in Hancheng. Sima Qian (145 - 90 BC), the famous historian and litterateur of China, is a native of Hancheng city . Sima Qian's tomb stands at the back of the temple and is built with bricks and engraved with the Eight Diagrams and flower designs on the walls of the grave.
We first wore the hanfu ( traditional clothes ) before heading up to the sima temple .
There was a brief introduction about the place and its significance . Afterwards we had our lunch and started our journey back to Xi’an. It was a great experience and we had a chance to meet new people and make new friends. We were grateful for the impromptu trip . Thank you Xi’an Jiaotong University for the opportunity to explore more of China .返回列表 下一条
