XJTU Exchanging Students Program

Xi’an Jiaotong University (hereinafter referred as “XJTU”) is welcoming of receiving exchanging students in accordance with the student exchange agreements signed between XJTU and overseas universities (hereinafter referred as “home university”). XJTU will accept application from international students for inter-university exchange programs.

I.ELIGIBILITY

Applicant’s home university must have signed studentexchange agreements with XJTU, and the agreements must be still in force.

a) Applicant for XJTU exchange program should be degree student fully enrolled at home university(Please refer to the exchange agreement for specific details).

b) Applicant should obtain nomination from the home university before application. Nomination Form, only soft copy needed, should reach XJTU one month before the application deadline.

c) In consideration of cultural exchange and mutual learning, applicants must be in principle non-Chinese citizens with valid passports.

II.DURATIONAND NUMBER OFAPPLICANTS

Student exchange programdurationand number ofapplicantsarementioned in agreements.Usually, XJTU’s autumn semester starts from September the spring semester starts from March.

III.FEES

1.Application fee exempted. Tuition Fees exempted according to agreements.

2.If the student exchange agreement contains clear terms on accommodation, the terms will be followed. If there is no stipulation for accommodation,new studentsneedtobookon campus accommodation at their own expense.

IV.PROCEDURE

Step 1Applicant needs to contact with home university in advance to confirm if home university signed student exchange agreements with XJTU. Ifso, applicant should apply for nomination from home university.If not,applicant can apply for XJTU Visiting Scholar Program (Details refer to: https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/zsxm/fxl_ykxm/zyjxxm.htm).

Step 2If applicant is confirmed by home university, home university will submit official Nomination List to XJTU at least one month before the application deadline.

Step 3After confirmation of nomination from home university, applicant needs to fill in online application at XJTU international student application system athttp://isso.xjtu.edu.cn/recruit/loginand upload application documents in the application system. Please refer toApplication Documentsbelow for the detailed checklist and prepare corresponding documents.

Step 4XJTU School of International Education will examine the application according to the Nomination List provided by the coordinator of XJTU and the criteria of international students’admission. Final admission result will be announced through application system.

Application Documents:

*All documents must be complete, true, and correctIN EITHER CHINESE OR ENGLISH.

1.Completed Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report

The physical examination must cover ALL the items listed in form. The forms with incomplete records or without the suggestion and signature of the attending physician, official cross-edge stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months. Required format athttp://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/Application_Guide/Data_Download.htm

2.Original Non-criminal Record

It should be issued by local police or Judicial department. Behavior performance certificate issued by Home University is also acceptable.

3.Certification for enrollment of Home University

4.Original Academic Transcript either in Chinese or English with stamp or signature

5.Recommendation Letters

One original recommendation letter written by professors or associate professors for bachelor student, two for postgraduate student.

6.Certificate of Language Proficiency

Chinese-taught programs: Report of HSK 4 180 points and above. Other language proficiency certificate is also acceptable upon approved by XJTU.

English-taught programs: transcript of IELTS 6.0 and above, TOEFL 80 and above. Other language proficiency certificate is also acceptable upon approved by XJTU.

If there are clear provisions regarding to Language Proficiency in the agreement between the two universities, the agreement shall prevail.

7.GPA

No special requirements, please recommend students according to the exchange agreement.

8.Photocopy of Valid Ordinary Passport(Itshould bevalid for more than 6 months after enrollment).

NOTES:

a) No application documents mentioned above will be returned whether the application is successful or not.

b) Incomplete application is returned for students to edit instead of being rejected.

c) Online application is the only way to submit the application. Hard copies are unacceptable.

V.APPLICATION DATES

Spring Semester (starts in March each year):

Application period: September 1 to December 31;

Nomination deadline: 30 November.

Autumn Semester (starts in September each year):

Application period: September 1 to June 30 next year;

Nomination deadline: 31 May.

If the application date is otherwise specified in theexchangeagreement, please refer to theagreement.

VI.VISA

The university will provide Admission Notice, JW202 form (Visa form) for the admitted applicants to applying for X visa for coming to China. Those who are with other types of visas will not be allowed for registration at XJTU. Documents will be provided according to the actual situation and the border requirements as for the online program.
