My name is Bilal Haider Shamsi and I am Pakistan national. I want to share my love story on the special occasion of QiXi festival. All lovers love story has a beloved and my beloved is XJTU. Yes, I love my Alma Mater XJTU.
My love story began when I came to XJTU in 2007 to pursue my postgraduate studies. There are a lot of reasons of which I fell in love with XJTU. Firstly, the School of International Education teachers who always helped me and guided me in a way that although being in a foreign country I always felt being at home. Secondly, the professors and colleagues of XJTU and affiliated hospital, who taught me, trained me, guided me and steered me through my educational pursuits in such a way that I became a successful respected doctor to serve patients and community. Next, the environment of XJTU, friends, fellows and mates at XJTU made me fall in love with XJTU.
The love happens when the emotions touch your heart. I want to share some heart touching moments which are the cause of my everlasting love for XJTU.
My professor during my Masters studies, Prof. Dr. Liu Xiaohong is not only my teacher regarding my studies but also, she is like my elder sister and my mother regarding my everyday life. During my studies, she used to invite me to her home and also at different venues to spend and share Chinese cultural festivals and events and also personal events like birthday parties and study successes. It was because of her that I was able to learn Chinese language. Finally, under her great supervision I was able to complete my Masters degree. Later my PhD mentor, Prof. Dr. Xiao Yanfeng groomed me into a successful doctor and efficient worker. Her training made me what I am today. I would love to mention the names of my SIE teachers, Dean Song Yuxia, Director Li Rui, Director Zhang Hua, Director Lan Xueping, teacher Zhao Anping, teacher Zhang Yong, teacher Zhao Ting, teacher Li Yangming, teacher Zhang Jian, teacher Han Long, teacher Zhang Xiangguo and many more are all truly devoted, dedicated and directed to take care of international students. All those teachers’ treatment towards me as a brother made me touched and emotionally attached to XJTU.
In 2012 my parents came to visit me in China and during their stay my father suffered from heart disease. He was diagnosed as coronary artery occlusion and was operated upon to put stent in coronary artery. During his treatment at XJTU affiliated hospital my teachers used to visit my father and would help me not only in taking care of my father but also would provide a big financial support to ease my economic burden.
During my studies, I was not only taught and trained academically but also, I was given a lot of opportunities to present my self at stage as a host, as a speaker and as a performer at several cultural and official occasions. Those co-curricular activities groomed my personality to better serve later in China.
My colleagues, my friends and my teachers helped me a lot when my wife gave birth to my daughter. Being a father in a foreign country without having family support could have caused problems for me but again my beloved XJTU teachers and friends made my parenthood easier for me by extending loving helping hands.
Now, I have been serving at The Affiliated Shenmu Hospital of Northwest University as an Associate professor in pediatrics and scientific research workstation.
I dedicate all my success and I give full credit to XJTU for all my success today. I am what I am because of my love XJTU. I love XJTU forever, till infinity and beyond………….
I wish my Alma Mater XJTU the best of success, progress, prosperity and bright future.
XJTU, I love you….. QiXi Kuai le.
