“Five Central Asian Countries” International Student Education and Training Program Scholarship in Xi’an

 

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), established in 1896, is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the top ten research universities in China and the member of C9 League—China’s Ivy League. JTU is a comprehensive research university with 9 major categories of disciplines: science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, and art. There are more than 3000 international students from 130 countries and regions studying in Xi’an Jiaotong University. In 2013, XJTU was awarded by the Ministry of Education of China as the “Demonstration Base for International Education” due to its outstanding performance in the work of international student education. It was ranked No. 10 on the list of 2022 Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Mainland.

In order to attract more outstanding students from "Five Central Asian Countries" to study in Xi'an, and cultivate international talents who are familiar with China, have international vision, international communication skills and high professional quality, Xi’an City Government has set up the “Five Central Asian Countries” International Student Education and Training Program Scholarship. As one of the host institutions of the project, Xi'an Jiaotong University has opened the Foundation-Bachelor Program to the five Central Asian countries. After completing the Foundation-Bachelor Program in our university, students will be admitted directly to undergraduate studies without another review and interview.

I.Eligibility

1. Nationals of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan, holders of ordinary valid passport with good health status and friendly to China;

2. Well-behaved, law-abiding, diligent and studious, with no criminal record in the country of nationality;

3. Under the age of 25 (A guardian authorization is required for those under 18 years old);

4. High school/ senior secondary diplomat or equivalent（Applicants who are still in the last year of high school can provide expected graduation certificate for submitting application while the official diploma must be provided upon enrollment）；

5. The average score of all subjects studied in high school should not less than 70% of the full marks;

6. Chinese proficiency should be equivalent to HSK level 2-3;

7. Comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education’s document. [2020] No.12 and the relevant regulations of our university.

II.Application Schedule

Application time: November 1^st, 2022 – December 20th, 2022

Foundation Program Study Duration: February– July 2023

Undergraduate Program Study Duration: September 2023 – July 2027

III.Application Documents

1. Xi’an Jiaotong University Application form for international students. (Automatically formed after online application in XJTU system);

3. Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma, either in Chinese or English;

4. Notarized copies of high school academic transcripts, including courses taken and scores achieved;

5. Language certificate (HSK or proof of other Chinese learning experiences);

6. A recommendation letter written by high school headmaster or teachers (Email, phone number and signature should be included.);

7.Study plan written in English or Chinese with no less than 600 characters or words;

8. Scanned copy of valid foreign ordinary passport;

9. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (Download at https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/tigejianchajilu.pdf and fill in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of suggestion and signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid. The results are valid for six months.);

Notes:

a. Documents fail to meet the above requirements will be rejected;

b. Please provide documents 2-11 in scanned copy and upload to the online application system of XJTU;

c. Documents other than Chinese or English are required to be translated and notarized;

d. During the review process, the school may require students to submit other materials if needed.

IV.Application, Admission and Registration

1. Online Application.

Log in online application system of School of International Education, select “Undergraduate Program”and upload the scanned copy of all the required documents. Hard copies are not required.

2. Pay the application fee to complete your application

The university will send application fee payment notice for application through system information/email to those who pass the initial review. Application is completed only when you pay fully the application fee within the required time. The registration fee is 800 RMB and non-refundable;

3. Admission

Admission is given to the best applicants who are outstanding on the documents, scores, language skills and comprehensive interview etc. Student should pay close attention to the application system and registered email; follow up the latest information such as academic review, pre-admission, tuition payment and acceptance information, etc.

4. Registration

Admitted student should strictly follow the instruction of the admission documents to register. The registration time is the beginning of February 2023, specific time depends on the admission letter. The original graduation certificate, language proficiency certificate, etc. will be checked again at the time of registration. Those who fail to provide certificate document or fail the certificate verification will be canceled the admission.

V.Scholarship

1. A waiver of tuition fee;

2. Free on-campus accommodation;

3. Monthly stipend: 1800 RMB/month (10 months per year);

4. International travel stipend;

5. Relevant stipend for resettlement after entering China.

Notes:

a. All students are required to participate in the annual review, the scholarship of following academic year shall be comprehensively evaluated according to the student’s academic performance in the university.

b. If students are unable to enter China due to major epidemics, major natural disasters, or other force majeure, etc., university will take online teaching. During the online teaching period, the subsidies for 3, 4, 5 will be suspended.
