2025 Pre-University English-Medium Foundation Program of Xi’an Jiaotong University

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), established in 1896, is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the top ten research universities in China and the member of C9 League—China’s Ivy League. It is a comprehensive research university with academic advantages in science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, art, education, and interdisciplinary.

There are more than 3000 international students from 130 countries and regions studying in Xi’an Jiaotong University. In 2013, XJTU was awarded by the Ministry of Education of China as the“Demonstration Base for International Education” due to its outstanding performance in the work of international student education. It was ranked No. 10 on the list of 2023 Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Mainland.

The International Foundation Program Centerof Xi‘an Jiaotong Universityoffers customizedcourses for international studentswho areplanning to pursue English-taught Bachelordegrees in China. It willhelpstudents get prepared forfurtherstudy in a dynamic and supportiveuniversityenvironment.

XJTU Foundation Program Center adopts an English-medium instruction approach, covering the subjects of English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Chinese. The program is aimed to help international students learn academic English, refine subject knowledge, improve inter-cultural communication skills through 18-week program. The program lays a solid foundation for international students for their future degree studies.

XJTU Foundation Program Center also provides a series of guidance for international students, including visa application, Q&A for admission and scholarship policies,application procedures, lectures on university academic life, recommendationfor counterpart universities, etc. It creates favorable conditions for international students to enter Chinese universities successfully.

I. ProgramsIntroduction

1. International Foundation Program (IFP)

XJTU Foundation Program Center offers 18-week International Foundation Programto high school and equivalent level graduates to help them increase their chances of admitted to prestigious universities.

2. Foundation-Bachelor Program

XJTU Foundation Program Center offers 18-week“0.5+4/6”Foundation-Bachelor Program for outstanding high school and equivalentlevelgraduates, aiming to help applicants advance their knowledge structure.

Applicants will be informed of their eligibility for undergraduate studies through a comprehensive review prior to theirFoundation Program. Only students who graduated from the Foundation Program with qualified grades will be directly admitted to undergraduate studies after the program without another review and interview. Students who fail topass the foundation program's final examination will not be allowed to proceed to specialized studies and will have their learning qualifications cancelled.

II. Eligibility

1. 17-24 years old & with good health status (Guardian authorization is required for those under 18 years old)

2. Valid ordinary passport

3. High school/senior secondary diplomat or equivalent（Graduating students can apply with their transcript of mock examination）

4. Grades requirements

① International Foundation Program: average of 60% in High School

② Foundation-Bachelor Program: average of 70% in High School

III．Fee

Foundation Program (Unit: Rmb)

① Tuition &accommodation (double room): 23,500 CNY

② Tuition &accommodation (single room): 25,000 CNY

VI. Application Documents

1. Scanned copy of valid foreign ordinary passport；

2. Original and notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma, either in Chinese or English;

3. Original and notarized copies of high school academic transcripts and University Entrance Examination transcripts, including courses taken and scores achieved;

4. A recommendation letter written by high school headmaster or teachers(Signature, email and phone number of the referee should be included.)

5. Study plan written in English or Chinese with no less than 600 characters or words；

6. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (download athttp://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/sqclxz1.htm and fill in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of suggestion and signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid);

7. Non-criminal record with expiration date noted;

8. Other supporting documents (if you have any)；

VII. Application Procedure

1. Log in the online application system of School of International Education of XJTU (http://isso.xjtu.edu.cn/recruit/login) and create your own account.

2. Choose “预科项目/Pre-University Foundation Programs”, complete your online application and upload all the required documents as prompted by the system.

3. Pay the application fee (The system will automatically open the account for payment after you pass our initial review.).

4. Application is complete. Please wait for the school to notify you of the next step.

Notes：a. Application fee is 500 CNYand non-refundable.

b. Online application is the only way to submit your application. Hard copies are unacceptable.
