Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), is the national key University directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is the top 10 Research University in China and member of China’s Ivy League --- C9 League. It was ranked No. 10 on the list of 2024 Shanghai Ranking of Chinese Mainland.
XJTU is a comprehensive research university with 11 major categories of disciplines: science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, art, education, and interdisciplinary, and 34 schools, 9 colleges for undergraduates and 3 affiliated hospitals. There are four campuses, namely Xingqing campus, Yanta campus, Qujiang campus and China Western Science and Technology Innovation Harbour, with a total area of about 5.33 million square meters
The University now has 59,267 full-time students, including 24,539 undergraduates, 31,194 postgraduates, and 3,534 international students. XJTU offers 76 undergraduate majors, and there are 40 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctorate degrees, and 43 disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees.
According to the data released by Essential Science Indicators (ESI), Engineering programs of XJTU are ranked top 1‱ on the ESI list, other 19 disciplines of XJTU are ranked top 1% and 6 disciplines of XJTU are ranked top 1‰ on the ESI list in 2024. Its Management School and Law School are accredited for the QS FIVE STARS. XJTU offers undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and visiting scholar programs in its advantageous disciplines and enrolled international students from all over the world.

1. CSC-Chinese University Program
A waiver of tuition fees, Free on-campus dormitory accommodation, Monthly living allowance, and Comprehensive Medical Insurance for International Students in China.
2. XJTU Siyuan International Student Scholarship
A waiver of tuition fee, Monthly living allowance.
3. XJTU-Xi’an City Government “Belt and Road” International Student Scholarship
A waiver of tuition fee, Monthly living allowance.
NOTES:
a) Scholarships cover the basic study duration as prescribed in the admission notice.
b) Accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance are NOT included in XJTU Siyuan International Student Scholarship and XJTU-Xi’an City Government International Student Scholarship.
c) All the scholarship laureates must take the Scholarship Annual Review to confirm the next year’s scholarship status and/or level after being admitted.
d) The Annual Review Result of Chinese Government Scholarship may result in the following scholarship status: funding, suspension, or cancellation.

IV. Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid ordinary passports;
2. Applicants must be in good health;
3. Applicants for a Master's degree must have a Bachelor's degree and be under 35 years of age,
Applicants for a Doctoral degree must have a Master's degree and be under 40 years of age;
4. Applicants may not receive any other types of scholarship.

(The university will send a Payment Notice for Application through system information/email to those who pass the initial review.)
Step 4.
Application complete.
Students should pay close attention to the application system and registered email; follow up on the latest information such as academic review, pre-admission review, tuition payment and acceptance information, etc.
NOTES:
a）Application fee is 800RMB which is non-refundable.
b）Online application is the only way to submit the application. Hard copies are unacceptable.

3. Completed Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report
The physical examination must cover ALL the items listed in the form. (Download at http://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/2.pdf and fill in Chinese or English.) The forms with incomplete records or without the suggestion and signature of the attending physician, an official cross-edge stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months.
4. Original Non-criminal Record within the validity period
5. Original Highest Diploma and Its Notarized Copies (Prospective diploma winners must submit an official certificate from their current university.)
6. Original and notarized copies of transcripts since undergraduate period
The transcript should include the grades of undergraduate, Master’s (if any), Doctoral (if any) period of study up to the most recent semester. The transcript should be issued and stamped by the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School or the relevant student administration department of the school.
7. Recommendation Letters
Two original recommendation letters written by professors or associate professors. If applicants have already received provisional acceptance from professors at XJTU, please provide Xi’an Jiaotong University Recommendation Letter from a Potential Supervisor as one of the two recommendation letters. The format can be downloaded at https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/Application_Guide/Data_Download.htm.
Special Attention for PhD applicants:
Some schools require Recommendation Letter from Potential Supervisor. Please check the list online and the information of professors.

8. A Study Plan or Research Proposal
Applicants must submit a written study plan or research proposal in English or Chinese, with a minimum of 800 words for a Master's degree and 1500 words for a Doctoral degree.
Special Attention for PhD applicants: You are required to use the format of Xi’an Jiaotong University Study Plan for Doctoral Degree Program which can be downloaded at https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/Application_Guide/Data_Download.htm.
9. Original Research Achievements and Notarized Copies
Applicants may submit published research papers, award certificates or other documents to prove their achievement and ability in academic research if any.
10. Certificate of Language Proficiency
English-taught programs: Transcript of IELTS 6.0 and above, TOEFL 80 and above. Other language proficiency certificates are also acceptable upon approval by XJTU.
Chinese-taught programs: Report of a valid HSK4 180 points and above. Other language proficiency certificates are also acceptable upon approval by XJTU. Those who have taken Chinese-taught courses to obtain a Chinese university degree are exempt from the HSK certificate.
To apply for the English-taught professional degree of Clinical Medicine master's program (including Stomatological Medicine), you must also provide a valid Chinese proficiency certificate in addition to the English proficiency certificate.
The university may decide to add a one-year Chinese language study prior to the academic study according to the applicant’s Chinese language proficiency. Only students who reach the standard of language proficiency could enter major study.
11. Photocopy of Valid Ordinary Passport.
The passport should be valid later than September 2025. If you do not meet the requirements, please renew your passport in time.
NOTES:
a) The materials uploaded in the system should be clear, true and valid. It is recommended that the applicant use professional equipment to scan the relevant documents to be submitted, and the consequences caused by the unclear or unidentifiable materials shall be taken by the applicant.
b) Incomplete Applications will be rejected.
c) No application documents mentioned above will be returned whether the application is successful or not.
d) Notarized Chinese/English versions are required for documents with languages other than the two.
VII. Admission Notification
1. Admission will be given to the outstanding candidates based on the comprehensive review results of application documents, interview, and (or) examinations, etc. The university will decide whether to grant a scholarship to the applicant and which scholarship or allowance level to grant according to the ranking of comprehensive review results as well as the seats of each scholarship in that year.
2. Make sure your email, telephone number, and postal address correctly be filled in the application system as they are key to getting you contacted during the admission process. Failure to respond to the university in time as required may lead to automatic rejection.
3. As a general rule, applicants are not allowed to change their study status information such as university, category, major, teaching language, study duration etc. once they get admitted.
4. The university will provide the Admission Notice, JW201/202 form (Confirmation Form for Study in China) for the admitted applicants to apply for X visa to come to China. Those who are with other types of visa will not be allowed for registration at XJTU.
5. Admitted applicants should register at XJTU strictly in accordance with the date, and place prescribed on the Admission Notice (usually in September, and the specific time depends on the admission letter). Failure to do so within two weeks will result in the admission and scholarship status being invalid.
6. At the time of registration, the school will make a qualification review to re-evaluate the eligibility of the student. As part of the qualification review, the school will recheck all the documents and personal information of the student, including identity information, original graduation and degree certificates, language proficiency certificates, etc. The school will also check the behavior of the student to ensure that they are a law-abiding citizen and have maintained good moral conduct before the registration period. Please bring the Original Highest Diploma and Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report for registration. Those who fail to pass this qualification review will be disqualified from admission and scholarship status.
