To meet the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate Chinese language education around the world, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) has jointly established “Xi’an Jiaotong University International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship”. The scholarship provides funding for20 seats ofChinese+ Mechanical Engineering (Intelligent Manufacturing) and 20 seats of Chinese+ Business Administration (Big Data Management and Application).

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), established in 1896, is a national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China. It is one of the top ten research universities in China and the member of C9 League—China’s Ivy League. XJTU is a comprehensive research university with 9 major categories of disciplines: science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, and art.

I. ELIGIBILITY

a) Be a non-Chinese citizen;

b) Be friendly to China, have no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of China and the rules and regulations of university;

c) Be in good physical and mental health, be in good academic and behavioral standing;

d) Be interested in Chinese language education and related work;

e) Be aged between 16 and 25 years on September 1, 2024.

f) High school / senior secondary or advanced diploma; (Applicants who are still in the last year of high school can provide expected graduation certificate for submitting application while the official diploma must be provided before Sep 1^st, 2023 upon enrollment)

g) Language Proficiency must be above HSK 4 or equivalent. Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score；

h) Comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education’s document. [2020] No.12 and the relevant regulations of our university.

III. Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship supports tuition, accommodation, living allowance (the monthly allowance for undergraduates is RMB 2,500 per person) and comprehensive medical insurance. The funding duration is no more than 4 years.

a) A scanned copy of the passport photo page

b) A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK/HSKK tests (within the two-year validity)

c) A reference letter by the head of the Recommending Institution

d) Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma, either in Chinese or English (Applicants who have not graduated can provide expected degree certificate)

e) Notarized copies of high school academic transcripts, including courses taken and scores achieved

f) International Chinese Language Teacher’s Scholarship Application Form(Submit to‘Other’in XJTU Application System)

g) Non-criminal record (submit to XJTU application system)

h) Physical examination record for foreigner (submit to XJTU application system. You can download at https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/tigejianchajilu.pdf and fill in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of suggestion and signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid. The results are valid for six months.)

1. Log on to International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Website (http://cis.chinese.cn), choose Cooperative International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship；

2. Select recommending institution, select Chinese+ Vocational Training (Bachelor’s)；

3. Select your major：Chinese+ Mechanical Engineering (Intelligent Manufacturing) or Chinese+ Business Administration (Big Data Management and Application）；

4. Select Xi’an Jiaotong University, fill in personal information, upload application materials and submit. After you finish the online application, please downloadInternational Chinese Language Teacher’s Scholarship Application Form;

5. Log in Xi’an Jiaotong University’s International student application system and submit application materials online according to the instructions.

VII. Evaluation and Admission

Applicants who have passed initial review will be shortlisted for online interviews. Interview arrangement will be sent by system message and e-mail. Student should pay close attention to the application system and registered email; follow up the latest information such as academic review, pre-admission, and acceptance information, etc.

VIII.Registration

The successful applicant must confirm with XJTU to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the scholarship certificate online, and register at XJTU on the designated date as per the Letter of Admission.

Admitted student should strictly follow the instruction of the admission documents to register. The registration time is the beginning of September 2024, specific time depends on the admission letter. The original graduation certificate, language proficiency certificate, etc. will be checked again at the time of registration. Those who fail to provide certificate document or fail the certificate verification will be canceled the admission.
