Greetings from Xi'an Jiaotong University!
To cultivate innovative talent with practical skills, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) has launched a series of visiting programs welcoming students from around the world. We sincerely invite international students from Duke Kunshan University to join us at XJTU for an enriching academic journey this December!
I. Research Theme:
1.The New Generation of Information and Optoelectronic Chips
Introduction to Research Content:
The infrastructure of the information age is electronic chips (integrated circuits), and the age of artificial intelligence will require advanced photonic chips (optical integrated circuits). With the rapid development of science and technology, the combination of electronic technology and optical technology has become a direction of great attention in the field of modern science and technology. The emergence of optoelectronic chips provides a completely new idea and solution for the preparation of new optoelectronic devices. The continuous innovation of the design and preparation technology of optoelectronic chip not only improves its integration and performance, but also promotes the deepening of science and technology to a certain extent.
Thisresearch projectwill take you on an in-depth exploration of cutting-edge areas of optoelectronic chip research. Through laboratory tours, hands-on experiments, lectures, round-table discussions, and other activities, this project provides a comprehensive view of current research and emerging trends in the field.

Then he worked as a research associate at the University of Sheffield in the UK from January 2014 to May 2017, and joined Xi’an Jiaotong University in May 2017. Prof. LI’s research interests include light-matter interaction, quantum and topological effects in microcavities and nanostructures, with many articles published in top-class peer-reviewed journals such as Physical Review Letters, Nature Communications, Light: Science& Applications, ACS Nano, Optica, etc. and three research projects from the NSFC. Feng LI is teaching the undergraduate course “Optoelectronics” and “Introduction to Hawking’s A Brief History of Time” and the graduate course “English Practice for Electronic and Information Engineering”.Personal webpage:http://gr.xjtu.edu.cn/web/felix831204
2. Sustainable Urban-Rural Development and Heritage Conservation
In the context of globalization and rapid urbanization, urban-rural heritage faces unprecedented challenges. On one hand, cultural heritage, as a witness to history, carries rich cultural information and social value. On the other hand, with the process of urbanization, how to protect cultural heritage while promoting its rational utilization and sustainable development has become an important issue. This research project aims to explore methods and pathways for the conservation and regeneration of urban-rural heritage through activities such as field investigations, academic seminars, and group discussions.
Learning Objectives
Understand the Value of Urban-Rural Heritage:
➢ Through case studies, gain a deep understanding of the historical, cultural, and social significance of urban-rural heritage.
➢ Enhance awareness of the importance of heritage preservation and its role in preserving cultural identity and community values.
Explore Sustainable Development Pathways:
➢ Investigate how the innovation of local community contribute to the sustainable development goals.
➢ Examine strategies for achieving a positive interaction between heritage preservation and local economic and cultural development.
Develop Innovative Thinking Skills:
➢ Encourage students to propose innovative solutions to address real-world challenges in heritage preservation.
➢ Foster creative problem-solving skills and critical thinking to enhance the effectiveness of heritage preservation efforts.
These learning objectives are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in urban-rural heritage preservation and to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to sustainable development initiatives.
