2026 Xi’an Jiaotong University International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship in “Chinese+” International Undergraduate Program

To address the growing international demand for Chinese language teachers, facilitate the global development of Chinese language education, and support the professional development of Chinese language teachers, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “CLEC”) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (hereinafter referred to as XJTU) has jointly established “Xi’an Jiaotong University International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship”. The scholarship provides funding forChinese+ Mechanical Engineering (Intelligent Manufacturing) and Chinese+ Business Administration (Big Data Management and Application).

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), founded in 1896, is a national key university directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. As one of China's top ten research-intensive universities and a member of the C9 League, it operates as a comprehensive research university, encompassing 11 major disciplinary categories, including science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy, art, education, and interdisciplinary studies.

I. ELIGIBILITY

a) Hold a valid foreign ordinary passport;

b) Maintain a friendly disposition towards China, possess no criminal record, abide by the laws and regulations of China and comply with the rules and regulations of university;

c) Demonstrate good physical and mental health, maintain good academic and behavioral standing;

d) Be aged 16 to 25 as of September 1, 2026;

e) Hold a high school / senior secondary or advanced diploma (Applicants still in their final year of high school may provide expected graduation certificate for submitting application while the official diploma must be provided before registration);

f) Possess language proficiency above HSK 4 or an equivalent level. Priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score；

g) Comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education’s document. [2020] No.12 and the relevant regulations of our university.

III. SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE

The scholarship supports tuition, accommodation fees, living allowance (the monthly allowance for undergraduates is RMB 2,500 per person) and comprehensive medical insurance. The funding duration is no more than 4 years.

IV. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

a) A scanned copy of the passport photo page

b) A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK/HSKK tests (within the two-year validity)

c) A reference letter by the head of the Recommending Institution

d) Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma, either in Chinese or English (Applicants who have not graduated can provide expected degree certificate issued by their schools, and supplement the graduation documents when registering)

e) Notarized copies of high school academic transcripts, including courses taken and scores achieved

f) Study plan written in English or Chinese with no less than 600 characters or words

g) International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Application Form(Submit to“Other”in XJTU Application System)

h) Non-criminal record (submit to XJTU application system)

i) Completed Original Physical Examination Record for Foreigners and Blood Test Report (submit to XJTU application system. You can download at https://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/Application_Guide/Data_Download.htm and fill in Chinese or English. The applicant must strictly take all the examination as required by the Form. Leaving a blank or absence of suggestion and signature of the doctor or seal of the hospital will make the form invalid. The results are valid for six months.)

j) Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China. (You can download athttps://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/en/Application_Guide/Data_Download.htmand fill in Chinese or English.)

k) Scanned copy of the China Scholastic Competency Assessment(CSCA) transcript. Applicants can visit the official CSCA website (www.csca.cn) for specific test dates and content.

VI. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

1. Submit XJTU Online Application

Log in to XJTU’s International Student Application System (http://isso.xjtu.edu.cn/recruit/login) and submit application materials online according to the instructions. Pay the application fee of 800 RMB (Please note that the application fee is non-refundable regardless of admission results).

2. Submit CLEC Online Application

Visit the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship section of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation website (https://www.chinese.cn/), complete the registration and log in to the program management platform, click “Scholarship Application” and select “Joint Training Program”. Enter the “Application Form for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship” page. Check the recommending institutions and host institutions. If applicants choose XJTU as the recommending institution, please select “Xi’an Jiaotong University” under HSK Test Centers (Non-Confucius Institutes)→Asia→China when filling in the application. Fill in the application form as required, and select “Chinese + Vocational and Technical Training (Undergraduate)” in “Scholarship Category” and select major. VII. EVALUATION AND ADMISSION

Admission will be granted to the most qualified applicants based on their academic records, language proficiency, CSCA results, and performance in the comprehensive interview, etc. Applicants should pay close attention to the application system and registered email; and follow up the latest information for the academic review, pre-admission, etc.Scholarship results will be announced by CLEC.

VIII.REGISTRATION AND OTHERS

The successful applicant must confirm with XJTU to go through the procedures of studying in China, register at XJTU on the designated date as per theLetter of Admission Notice.

Admitted student should strictly follow the instruction of the admission documents to register. The registration time is the beginning of September 2026 and the specific time depends on the Letter of Admission Notice. The original graduation certificate, language proficiency certificate, etc. will be checked again at the time of registration. Those who fail to provide certificate document or fail the certificate verification will be canceled the admission.

Registered students are subject to the annual assessment according to theAnnual Assessment Procedures of the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship.
