Subject situation

The Chinese language major is a language undergraduate major that recruits international students in China. In 2007, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of this major in Xi'an Jiaotong University with a four-year academic system. The graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree by Xi'an Jiaotong University. In September 2008, the Chinese language major officially recruited students. The recruits are foreign students who have graduated from high school or above and whose native language is not Chinese. The source countries include South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Peru, Ukraine and more than 30 countries. In 2020, in order to better meet the needs of the society for the comprehensive quality of Chinese talents, this major added a business Chinese direction.

Teaching situation

Facing the new demand for international Chinese talents in economic and social development, the Chinese language major focuses on foreign students' comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Chinese language knowledge and China's national conditions, history and culture, values, and social customs. Use Chinese to carry out economic and trade business activities. The current graduates are either working in embassies and consulates, or holding important positions in international schools, or have become the backbone of international economic and trade exchanges of various enterprises.

Personnel situation

The Chinese language major has 12 full-time teachers, 1 professor, 5 associate professors, and 3 doctoral degree holders. Young and middle-aged teachers aged 30-45 account for 83%. It is a young team with rich teaching experience and excellent teaching quality.
